The African Queen is the largest and most famous charter yacht operating out of Durban. She is a very sea worthy 15 metre (65ft) vessel weighing nearly 30 ton, with a fully equipped galley, fridges, toilets and eight berth. She has two keels and two rudders for maximum stability and has an average speed of 10 knots under full sail or under power by an 80hp Ford Marine Diesel Engine with a variable pitch propeller. The vessel meets the most stringent safety requirements and is licensed by SAMSA the South African Maritime Safety Authority. The skippers have more than 20 years experience of Indian Ocean sailing and are certified for class ‘B’ commercial vessels.
